2019: A Year to Pursue Passions
Christmas Day, 2018. I cooked a wonderful meal and had dinner with my parents. Just the three of us. I felt incredibly happy and blessed that I was able to have both my mother and father with me. Considering that I've lost several friends, family members and co-workers over the past two years to various illnesses, I realize how important it is to cherish time with the ones you love the most. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018
I’m starting my end-of-year reflection on Christmas Day. 2017 has been an absolute roller coaster. My worst nightmare came true this year. Yet, this year also brought some of the most amazing experiences of my life. It’s so hard to reconcile, but so worth the reflection. Last year on Christmas Day, my grandmothers FaceTimed each other. Oh, how I loved technology that day.
Where ya going? Barcelona!
I've always wanted to go to Barcelona. I don't have the time or money to see multiple cities in Spain, but since I do have time for just one, I decided to make this dream come true. After planning FAR in advance and finding the best deals, the trip was set. There was much anticipation and waiting, but finally, June 26th arrived and I was set for tapas, sun, sight-seeing, and fun!
Rome, If You Want To
…except, I’m not going to Rome. Well, I was initially planning to go to Rome, but then everything changed. You see, I was supposed to undertake this glorious Italian vacation with a friend from my Masters program. But 3 weeks before we were scheduled to leave, she told me that she could no longer attend and was actually leaving London to go back home early. So, there's that. I briefly considered canceling the trip altogether.
Liverpool: I Love You Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!
Hands down, my favorite day trip so far. I couldn’t come to England without making trips to Stonehenge, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and Liverpool. It’s May and I’ve been to all three! I almost went with a packaged tour to Liverpool and I’m so glad I didn’t.
Theatre Spotlight: Much Ado About Nothing
A quick preface: I went into this production with an open mind--despite hearing and reading all of the negative reviews. I just knew it couldn't be that bad. Keep in mind that most of theatre reviews were published only a week after the show opened. I saw it closing weekend, so I assumed that the production would have made changes and improved over time. This was not the case.
First Two Days in London!
September 16, 2013 at 4:00pm. This was the time of departure from O'Hare Airport in Chicago, IL. Surprisingly, I did not feel very nervous and my emotions were under control. While on the plane, I decided pass the time (and try to forget that we were flying over the ocean--YIKES) by watching a few movies and getting some sleep.
